"Run for a Cure Africa" Race Tips: Know Your Race Day Details

If you have been following Eights & Weights for the last couple of weeks, you probably know that I have been giving race tips for the big "Run for a Cure Africa" race in Lagos, Nigeria in November. Run for a Cure Africa is currently hosting a competition on Twitter to see who can guess the actual date of the race. The first ten people to guess right get free entry! So find @RFCA2000 on Twitter and throw in your guess. The date will be announced on September 16th, 2013.

On to our race tips. It is all well and good to prepare and get the right clothes, but it has been my experience that knowing the details of the race can make or break you on race day. 2 points are important for race day details:

  • When and where to get your race packet
  • When and where the race starts and ends

Some races tend to be in very general areas like a park, and then you get there and are not sure where to go. This could be worse if you get there just in time because then you spend a few minutes looking for your start point and you could start late or even be disqualified if there is a start window.

Be sure to check the Run for a Cure Africa website as the race day approaches to know where to pick up your race day packet and where to go on the day of. And if you are not sure, contact them on Twitter or via email to confirm. Let's get you running!

Cheers Eights & Weights!
