Well, we've begun Dumbbell February! Let's talk about the deadlift because it is one of my favorite weighted exercises :) Deadlifts help to tone your butt (and depending on the type you choose, your abs and thighs as well).
Start in position 1 without your whole body straight and the dumbbells in front of you. If the dumbbells are so heavy that they are pulling you forward and you cannot stand straight, start will lower weights. I like to use 25 to 30 pound dumbbells in each hand.
Move into either option 1 or option 2. Option 2 tones your glutes (butt area), but option 1 also tones your thighs and your abs because it is a difficult position to hold.
Return to position 1. Repeat these steps for about 15 reps. That counts as 1 set. Do 3 sets of those 15 reps. If you started with little weights, the more comfortable you get with this, the more weight you should be able to add on.
