Why are Healthy Decisions so Important?

It's crazy how easy it is for our bodies to spiral out of control. This week, I was not really making the best decisions with food, and I realized how quickly my mental function was affected as well. On Sunday afternoon, I ate pretty bad. So on Sunday night, it was easy to repeat the same. On Monday, I was having a stressful day, and so I didn't want to use my brain power on dinner. This led to another bad decision.

Continuing this trend for a few days, my whole attitude started to go down. I am a generally positive person and I started to notice a switch. My body started to feel more tired (I almost slept off at the wheel a few times), and my mind was not performing as it usually does. I was at the locker room in the gym, and I did not feel confident about myself and my body. My whole body image perception started to go down too.

Now, all this is not to say you cannot treat yourself sometimes, but a lot of the bad diet decisions I made were not because I wanted to treat myself that day. They were mostly because I felt tired or stressed out, which means I didn't really enjoy the moments on the lips...lol. But what we put in our bodies affects our whole outlook on life: our approach to exercise, our calmness, our positivity, etc. And this has not been more clear to me than it has this week.

I do believe it is the same with exercise as well. When I do not put my all into my workout one day, and it starts to become a habit, after a few days, it is also easier for me to make bad diet decisions, and to feel bad about myself and my body.

Are you struggling to eat well everyday or exercise? Gain comfort in the fact that these things affect every part of your being, and so besides managing your weight, you are introducing positivity into every aspect of your life. Do not slack even if you are tempted to! And remember that it is important to try to move past one bad decision and not let it become the norm.

Cheers Eights & Weights!
